While Lon was photographing grasses in El Capitan Meadow, I found this Ponderosa Pine that had been lightly burned. The tree was very much alive.

Chamonix 4x5
Schneider Symmar-S 210mm
Astia 100f
I cropped a bit off the top and from both sides.

Very different one here, Preston. The contrasting colors are an immediate draw, but the strong close up detail really adds to this excellent abstract. As you mentioned, the tree seems to be doing just fine and seemingly holding it's own at being alive and well. Which is truly nice to see in the healthy bark even though the burned area is pretty severe.

Another well seen photo. Nicely composed, strong lines, good color contrasts and sharp detail.

Wonderful texture, detail and color Preston. I especially like the hint of reflected blues in the charred areas. Nicely seen - no nits or suggestions from me.

Wonderful Preston. I love the jigsaw puzzle texture to the whole thing.
