Is there a way to post an image hosted on Flickr so that it will show up on this forum as an image rather than a link one then has to click on?

I've done this on other forums using BBCode copies, but it doesn't seem to work here.

I've spent quite a bit of time trying to figure it out but while the instructions say one can post url links, they don't seem to say exactly how that process works and whether it results in an immediately viewable image.

John,

What you need to find is the direct and actual link to the image itself, not the page link of the Flikr album. I just went to Flikr, clicked on Explore to find an example. The first link, goes to the page where you might typically see an image. This link will NOT work for posting images here.

What you need to do, and this is browser dependent, is find out the exact image link. You can do this by "viewing source" or by getting the image properties. I'm using Chrome and I went to Tools>View source. Look in the code for the static image link, or search for "jpg" and you'll find the link. It will look something like this:
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8064/8205996539_49ce863af7_z.jpg

Now I'm doing that without logging in or being a member of Flikr. I'm pretty sure as a member you should be able to get to the "static link" of your image. Try looking in Flikr's support area for obtaining the static link to your image.

Hope this helps

Lon

Hi Lon. Thanks for the explanation.

Well, I am sort of getting the hang of it, LOL. I Tried using the method to post an image on the Wildlife thread and wound up posting a thumbnail, heh heh. I'm going to keep trying, thanks to your helpful suggestions, but it would be nice if I could delete the semi-successful trial, something like Canada goose at sunrise. Can you help me with that one, dude? :toast:

John - If you happen to be using Firefox and right click an image on Flickr (on Windows anyway), you'll either get a list of sizes to select, or you'll get a list of Windows options.

If you get the Windows options, one should be "View Image". Hit this and it will load only the image, and the address will be the direct address for the image.

If you get the list of sizes, select the size you want. Then right click again and you should get the "View Image" option.

This doesn't seem to work in Internet Explorer, and I don't know if it works in Chrome, Safari, etc.

Thank you David Bostedo. I will definitely give that a try. I have to figure out how delete my postage stamp first try from the Wildlife gallery, however LOL. At least I'm getting critique comments on it, though... On second though, maybe I'll leave it there LOL... :jump: :toast:

But I do use both IE and Firefox "Nightly" beta version... and I'll give that a try. I appreciate your suggestions.

Thanks again David Bostedo; What you suggested worked like a charm !! I posted my first one that way today in the Man and Nature forum, and will probably use that method henceforth.
