Well, I am having a hard time figuring out exactly which gallery to post this photo in, so I decided I should come to the CANP with the question. This is from a tree that was burned in a forest fire on the Hat Creek Rim in Eastern Shasta County so it could go in Environmental PJ's. It is up close and personal so it could also go into the Macro gallery. Because it is wood and therefore used to be live Flora, perhaps it could go there? It also looks somewhat like a Picaso face so perhaps the Photo Art area? My wife says it looks like a bear's face, but I am seeing an elephant, Wildlife? Maybe it is a combination of Man & Nature?
Anyway, I guess I will just let you take a look instead here at CANP. Hope you enjoy. I found it interesting and fun to ponder. Thanks for looking and commenting.

Ed,
What a great find! I would call it a bearlaphant! Eyes of a bear, but the snout makes me think it could be a long elephants trunk. How do you like my new word and species?
Good question about which gallery and frankly I wish more people would make the consideration. Personally, your image here could fit in all the galleries you mention, including Landscape. Less so for Macro since technically it appears to be more than 4" in size, which is one of the criteria for Macro. Man & Nature and PJ only if you had a story behind it, but obviously there are fires completely natural (lightning.) To me, and trust me I struggle with this even after being moderator for a while now, I think it's a toss up between Flora and Landscape, probably leaning towards flora (plants, trees, etc.) Photo Art is more about manipulation, IMHO. Landscape sometimes seems to be a catch-all and I for one wouldn't remove this image from Landscape if you posted there. In the end, the main criteria is for a member to post their image in "the most appropriate" gallery. Maybe my little answer helped, maybe not? ;-)
Great image. The only nit/suggestion I have would be to burn down the snout (LRC) a little bit to mitigate the softness. It's too bad the nose is a little soft - due to dof.

Excellent! Great lines and fascinating comp. I like Lon's suggestions, too.
If it were mine, I would post it in landscape. It fits nicely there and it would give you the greatest opportunity for good feedback.
