This is from a trip to the East Side with Mr. Harley in late July. We spent a rather warm, sunny and bright afternoon in Bodie. The contrast was extreme, so we looked for opportunities on the shaded sides of the buildings.
To cool off and have some grub, we went to the Viginia Creek Settlement on 395 just north of the Bodie road. It's a nice place with great food.

Hey PB,
Great Bodie window image! I really like that somehow the reflection of the landscape and buildings are there together with the view inside of the bowl. Almost like some illusion, like how can you see through the window AND see a reflection at the same time. Great job too with the framing. Good eye, excellent Bodie image.

One can really appreciate the efforts of our CA. park system to maintain this very old facility from an image such as yours Preston. I'm not sure how they have kept it in the condition that they have to this point.
I've always enjoyed these non-nature images from Bodie over the years being posted here in CANP. Probably because of it being so prominent in location on the east-side and all of it's history too.
I think most images have primarily come from yourself, Lon, and Harley as I recall.
I think the default location of the bowl holds a lot to the scene as a perfect anchor, however, your framing idea of how it all came together here as a package was the key to a fine image....
Just a note on this one:If you notice, there are some dark hand/fingerprints on the glass. Well, on the proof print, the dark spots are distracting, so I carefully cloned them out in my master file.
Lon: the illusion you mentioned never occurred to me. The direction of the light must've been just right for this happen.
Paul: This image, and a couple of others from this trip to Bodie, are the first images I've made there since the late 70's. I definitely want to go back--there are lots of opportunities there. Lon, Harley, and Jason Blankenship have some very nice work from there, too.

Excellent, PB! I am liking this one a whole lot. The intimate and the expansive from Bodie, all in one image.
p.s. It doesn't even look like Astia!!!!

A good find at Bodie, Preston. You're very observant.
