Going to Page this fall and considering a day and a night side trip to either Monument Valley or the North Rim. My inclination is towards Monument Valley. Any suggestions as to which way we go?

Keep in mind that the road to the north rim closes in mid-October for the winter.

services on the North Rim close in mid-October. the road and viewpoints remain open until the end of November.

They are both worthy destinations, you cannot go wrong with either one.

North rim could have fall colors depending on when you are there. Fave spots are Point Imperial for sunrise and Cape Royal for sunset.

Note that other than the Mittens view you cannot be in Monument Valley at sunrise or dark without a guide. Also you need a guide to leave the loop road. If it us your first visit I think just the loop can keep you plenty busy. Artist point and John Ford point were my two favorite spots.

Both places can keep you busy for a couple of days.

Have fun!!!

If you only have one day and one night and haven't been to either place...go Monument Valley. It's closer and easier to see. The North Rim is big and very spread and requires lots of driving once you get in the park. It's really not worth going for one day. You need at least 3 to fully appreciate it.
