Spent some time on the Furnace Creek floodplain yesterday (near the Everett Bridge). Virginia Bluebells are probably a week from full bloom. Most are still tight purple buds, but a few are already open. Trilliums here are just opening.

How early do you think the wildflower bloom is? Perhaps 2-3 weeks early due to the warm temps this spring?

Hey Kirk,
I think it's close to 3 weeks, though there is some variation between locations. I shot Trillium in full bloom on 3/25 in Brandywine Gorge. This past weekend, they were just opening along Furnace Creek. There are also some species that haven't responded as much to the warmth. Bloodroots, which usually open fairly early, are behind the Trilliums and Bluebells.
Nice shot Chuck. Like the different stages of the blossoms and how the leaves are sheltering them.
Our bluebells, and Prairie Trillium are in full bloom right now, so they're 2 to 3 weeks ahead of normal schedule too.

Definitely an odd spring.
