Hi all,

I have purchased a new portable hard drive to copy my images from CF card to hard drive.

While it seems to be switching on, there are some pages in the manual about formatting the hard drive which are available only in chinese. Hence I am not able to use it as it does not initialize.I know only English so here I am requesting some kind hearted person knowing Chinese to kindly translate some lines of chinese text to english. The image of the manual is available at the following location (http://www.geocities.com/amitneha/ChineseToEnglish_10.jpg)

I'll be very grateful for your efforts and many many thanks in advance.

Thanks,
Amit Verma

If you have a specific make and model there's a chance others here can help from personal experience with it.

The chances of someone else having used it is very low. Anyway here is the link of the product.

What size drive in the case? What operating system are you running... If xp does it show up in 'my computer'? I am guessing it's a lot like my x-drive II. It must be formated in FAT32. XP won't format anything bigger than 32mb in FAT32. I have a 60gb drive in my unit, partitioned in two 30gb partitions. To check with XP.. Right click the 'My Comptuter' icon on the desktop. Pick 'Manage' from the list. The pick 'disk management'. It should show the drive, and tell you how it is formatted. If it is a new disk a wizard will popup and lead you through the process.. Just make sure you do everything in FAT32. I am guessing it says that in the manual you linked us to. There is another manual at the bottom of the product link you supplied.

Thanks a lot for your reply.

I am using a 40 GB Western Digital drive which I formatted in NTFS. Now XP is not allowing me to convert it into FAT32. How do I do that?

Also, the printed manual I have have the pages in the link but in chinese, there are many more pages which I could not get transalated yet and I am sure the solution lies there :(
