I subscribe to the print and online editions of Yankee magazine and was getting set to prepare and upload images to their Winter 2012 Photo Contest--from my January trip to Rhode Island--when the little inner voice told me to read the rules very carefully. Fortunately I did so before wasting time. All submissions become their property to do with as they please. The photographer retains the rights, but still, meanwhile who knows whether they'd be doing something that would preempt something you might have done with the photos yourself (such as submitting them to the magazine for a paid article!). So, I did not bother.

Hi Nancy,
You have to read the fine print on any contest you enter. . . the majority I have looked at have similair or worse rules in the fine print!
