Every year the Western Nebraska Arts Council hold an open photography contest. They have four awards categories, professional, adult, youth and landscape. This year I won the best landscape in show category with the above image. Last year I won best in show in the adult division, but this year it was more satisfying because the landscape award is chosen from all entrants, including professional photographers. Also my winning image was purchased. This is the first image I have sold. On the advice of may professional photographers not to undervalue your work, my had the highest price tag of any image in the competition. The award is gratifying, but it was more gratifying to have someone value your work enough to purchase it. The tree is on the edge of Bryce Canyon and was shot in the morning after a four inch spring snow as the storm is starting to clear. I would like to thank everyone on NPN that has taken time to critique my work, because it has truly helped me improve.

Wondereful news and it couldn't go to a better photographer. I've really enjoyed your Cedar Canyon images and look forward to seeing more in the future. Maybe next year one of those will be selected.
