During my recent trip to UK, we went for a walk from Sunningdale to Windsor and on our way we passed through Windsor Great Park, Virginia Waters gardens and Saville Gardens. The entrance to Saville Garden and visitor center is pictured above. The Garden was unfortunately closed in Jan. We had a nice meal at the centre and continued our walk to Windsor. I took this picture because of the undulating roof architecture and the clouds in the sky. We were caught in the rain about 30 minutes from the center on our way to Windsor.
There are so many gardens in UK and that is what I look forward to whenever I go to London. Sadly, there is a dearth of garden in HK. What are your favorite gardens or parks where you go to take your flora images? Of course for some of you, your nice garden is your backyard which makes me so envious. It would be nice if you could post an image of your favorite garden/park/backyard in this thread.

Ok, Gary, my favorite garden/park is Shore Acres State Park Botanical Gardens on the Oregon Coast.

What a beautiful backdrop for the garden. Bet the frogs look good at night when its lit.

Gary: My favorite garden is ten feet out my front door. Of course it doesn't look like this now but for us spring is not far away. Chrissy always has a bonanza of different blooms throughout the year. This is a sample from mid spring in 2008. >=))>

We have a lot of perennials in our yard and I long for the Spring, but for now, my favorite place to photograph Mother Nature's glory is the North Carolina Arboretum in Asheville, North Carolina. It has about 65 acres of cultivated gardens and 10 miles of hiking trails. It's a great place to just wander about, even without a camera. This photo was taken last spring of their Quilt Garden. Every year the gardeners plant this area with over 4,000 plants that represent a specific quilt pattern. This pattern is called "Circle within Circle."

I am so envious of your garden at your doorstep. My favorite garden is actually not too far away from the hospital I work in and I duck over during lunchtime when I can. Will post a picture later.
Barbara:
What a great place and 4000 plants!

Sorry, I am a little late to this thread. Over 90% of the flora images I've taken and posted have been taken at Fellows Riverside Gardens, a free 12 acre public garden located about a mile from downtown Youngstown (where I work) and about 8 miles from where I live. My flora posts contain frequent references to this place. I was married in the rose garden/pavilion shown in this photo, which is one of many individual gardens, and my wife works at the gardens as the visitor services manager. I also recently completed my second three year term on the Board of Friends of Fellows Riverside Gardens. Every fall, staff and volunteers plant 40,000 spring bulbs, mostly tulips, and in 2009, the Gardens was named by USA Today as one of the top 10 places in the country to see daffodils. Probably 90% of the remaining 10% of my flora and macro images are taken in my yard, which contains about 2500sf gardens (enjoyed equally by me and the deer).

Wow! The gardens shown here are really spectacular! I don't have a picture of the gardens I frequent, but in Denver I go to the Denver Botanic Garden and the Hudson Garden. Albert, I really need your help to transform my backyard!

I travel around a bit in southwest Florida in my job. I don't have a lot of time to explore, but whenever I'm in a new place, I do try to scout for photo ops. A couple of months ago I was in Safety Harbor, at the northern end of Tampa Bay. In Philippe Park, a public county park, I made this photo with my iPhone and the ProHDR app.

Nice to see you have such a strong connection with Fellows Riverside Gardens. Must be a photographers paradise in spring with 40000 tulips.
Albert:
Hats of to you for keeping your garden in such pristine condition. The beautiful flowers in your garden is a reflection of your love and care for this place.
Buck:
Looks like a road tunnel created by forest canopy.

Gary : sorry I am so late with this posting. Have just got round to taking this image of a Japanese style tea garden at Tatton Park in Cheshire, UK. It was established early in the twentieth century by a team of Japanese gardeners; it is thought to have been inspired by the Anglo-Japanese exhibition at the White City, London, in 1910. The house and estate belong now to the National Trust. It is certainly among my favourite places - even if not quite the genuine article !
Ian:
Thanks for chiming in. My wife and I love Japanese gardens and we try to go to as many as we can when we go to Japan. Our favourite Japanese Gardens are the Imperial East Garden and Shinjuku Gardens in Tokyo.

This is a shot of an intimate garden at my old house. I liked that one a lot.

I'm planning a trip to Denver Botanic Gardens. They currently have bamboo sculptures in a show called “Kizuna: West Meets East” that I think would make fascinating subjects for 4x5 black & white film.
Great place to read a book and enjoy a cup of coffee (hopefully no mosquitoes or other annoy bugs).
Fascinating what they can do with the bamboo. Hope you get some nice pictures.
