Homer or Cordova for Shorebirds?

I went to Cordova last year for shorebirds and had a blast. Anyone have any comparison with the Kachemak Bay Festival? I understand there is more variety but less numbers in Homer. Anyone have any information on where around Homer the birds actually come in? Are they accessible via road or does one have to hire a boat?

Any information will be appreciated.

Wish I could help Dan but I haven't been to Homer during the shorebird migration - I have always gone to Cordova. It is my understanding that they are on the flats, but not in as large of numbers and possibly not as approachable because of the many visitors but this is third hand information.
