My daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter are moving to Lake Norman in a few months.
Anybody been there? I'm hoping for Fall colors.
Thanks and Happy NY.

Good news & bad news. The good news is that there is great color around Lake Norman in the fall. The bad news is that Lake Norman has become a hi-rent suburb of Charlotte, and a lot of the areas of the lake have housing around them - very high end housing. There are some open spots you can view/shoot from the water, and some coves in which to get scenics.
The better news is that you can north on I-77 to the mountains of NC in about an hour or less. There are fabulous scenes available to you there. In the Roaring Gap area, you can pick up the Blue Ridge Parkway & travel both north & south to get great stuff. That usually occurs around Oct. 15 - Oct 22, depending on elevation. Traveling south on the BRP, you get to the Grandfather Mountain, Boone, Blowing Rock area that is quite popular. Lots of folks on this forum know of many good locations to shoot off the parkway. Good luck!

Wick's got it right. Overly developed lake where it's impossible not to have a house in any photo. Lot's of good stuff fairly close by, though.
