Winter Blooming Manzanita
For the wildflower deprived there are some very nice manzanitas in bloom and more in bud at the Regional Parks Botanic Garden in Berkeley. They are especially good for close-up work. Also of photographic interest is bark and snowberry. Here are some of my photos from today: http://naturalhistorywanderings.com/2011/12/26/manzanita-and-snowberry/
I have posted here a photo of a Hearst Manzanita. Comments and Criticisms welcome.

Nice little gallery of winter images. I really like the color contrast in your creek dogwood images. Nice reds and grays.
