I'm considering a trip up to Carizzo Plains next weekend, not too sure yet tho'.

1) to anyone that has been there this year, do you think it is worth the trip from OC? from what I read, I don't think it is past peak, but would be curious to your thoughts.

2) anyone up for meeting there?

I would probably just do this as a big day trip if I go.

What Day? If I don't get enough people to sign up for the Special One Day Intensive to Gorman, then I might consider going back. I was there two weeks ago and seemed like it was just getting started. I wanted to go back yesterday, but things got in the way. Would go tomorrow, but I have show. I have a show next sunday as well, so it would have to be Friday or Saturday, if not enough people sign up for the intensive.

BTW, have you heard anything about Gorman? How's it looking? Two weeks ago it was just starting as well. A local I spoke with, expected it to be a good year.

Hello Chritian,

I was out in Carrizo Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday last week during the mostly sunny weather. Blooms are not widespread like last year and the El Nino springs. However the area along Simmler Road is superb right now. Not the jungle of last year but rather a large boost of even height wildflowers are out now due to the 2.6 inches of rain in the one big storm at the beginning of this month. The goldfields in many areas are considerably more brightly fresh and yellow versus what I saw at Shell Creek or Antelope Valley. In particular is a nice sized dense field of yellow hued Bigelow's coreopsis that may be California's most intensely yellow wildflower. Likely will just be peaking this next week. Tuesday just had light intermittent breezes till late morning and then calmed up again after 4pm. Quite a great day for large format work. The other two days, breezes increased earlier. A LF climber friend of mine is eager to drive down there probably Thursday night for a 3-day tour so I am leaning towards joining his ride since its the best thing happening today.

Oh and Ismail, was down at the Farmer's market this morning chomping on the wares and noticed your booth was set up again. I would have said hello but you were gabbing with a customer. If you still have my business card, give me a phone call if your plans change to Carrizo too so we might recognize each other's vehicles. ...David

David and Christian,

Its starting to look like I might be able to make to Carrizo on Saturday. What will you guys be driving? Maybe we can meet up. I'll be in a '94 Green 4Runner.
