Isn't anyone having winter?

I haven't had much time to get on NPN lately, but I'm looking on here now, and I am surprised at the landscape photos. There are very few "winter" photos, you know, the kind with lots of snow and ice. Everything seems to be fall colors, and yes, they are gorgeous.

Is everyone having a "non-winter", or is everyone still just working with the beautiful images they got this fall?

I used to take most of my images in the winter, but I'm at work on the North Slope, and don't have time to take any photos. Besides, it barely gets light enough even in the middle of the day to take a picture, unless you do a long exposure. There was some pretty color on the south horizon yesterday, though, so I'm going to start carying my camera.
Sunrise: N/A (it doesn't get above the horizon)
Temp: -21 degrees F (up from -34 degrees F yesterday)
Wind: 8 MPH
Winchill: -38 F

The one huge October snowfall and then unusually warm in CT. Great for cutting the heating bills, but lousy for winterscapes.

plenty of winter here in northern Arizona--it's been snowing pretty frequently for over a month. I even shot a landscape or two, but all I've posted are ravens in my usual haunt--Avian.

Temps. in the Hudson Valley (and Metro NY in general) have mostly been running above normal. No snow since the October storm--just several very heavy rain storms.

Happy now?

Not a bit of snow in the Sierras here. We're 2 inches behind om rain already this season.

Dan:   :toast: Yes. That looks like somebody's front door needs some serious shovel-work!

In winters past, people all over the place had tons of great winterscapes. I didn't realize I missed the winter images so much.

I remember when Patricia had the big storm back east, and I know it snowed a whole bunch in Arizona in the last day or so. I'm going to try really hard to get out and get some winter photos next week...

Ask me again after Tuesday :). We're suppose to get a big snow here in central Kansas then. Last February we had 2 blizzards a week a part, both on Tuesdays. Not sure what is it about Tuesdays and Kansas blizzards this year :).

We are a little behind here in Yellowstone but I am sure we will catch up soon enough for me to head south for a month before returning to lead my Yellowstone workshops. I will ost some for you even though I bet you are missing the sun more than the winter :jump:
BTW are the foxes still around?

Jess - Yep, the foxes are still around on the slope. I've seen at least one every day over the last week. I don't get close to them. Yes, not seeing any natural light for a couple of weeks at a time does affect me.
Phillip - Yeah, I saw that you're supposed to get a whole bunch of snow!! Have fun!

Winter for us means rain. This mornings news revealed that normal rainfall here is 3.24" in the month of Dec. So far we've had a stingy .19". We had a very late and short lived summer maybe winter will follow suit.

But I must add to Bruce's comment that less than an hour drive from Seattle, there's plenty of snow...

I live in Central TX (Austin) and we had only a couple of hours barely below freezing twice this winter, but that is the least the Lord could give us after 90 days of 100F last summer which included 62 consecutive days of that weather. If I had wanted to live in Phoenix I would have, but this was ridiculous. I hope we'll do better this summer.

Much of central TX grows fruit and we didn't have enough freezing weather for the peaches to grow fruit.
