Before the Eclipse
I stepped out my front door in Simi Valley at about 11 PM last night and saw this lunar halo. I got my camera, tripod and wide zoom lens out and made some shots from my front yard. Color correction done in nik Color Efex Pro 4 and clarity, contrast, brightness adjustments done in LR3. Canon 5d Mk2; 4 sec @ f/2.8; 21mm; ISO 100; 16-35mm F/2.8L II.

The tree provides a reality anchor for me, but at the same time kind of feels like it comes in from nowhere. I am curious if you have a version without the tree to compare. I still like the image, tree or not. Great sky and processing.

Cool shot Craig. I like the tree. It seems to put an handle on the eclipse. The angle of the trre also seems to give the photo a swirling feel.

My son mentioned the ring around the moon when he got home late Friday night, but I was too lazy to get off the couch and look. This came out nice and I like the detail in the clouds.
