My new (to me) Nikkor ED AF-I 400mm 1:2.8 D arrived today and I am quite certain, since it traveled from Ontario to Tennessee in one day, that the Earth’s axis has shifted somewhat to the South! Now I know what “BIG GLASS” is, MAN, this thing is HEAVY! My Sigma weighs about 6 pounds and this one supposedly weighs about 14 but my arms did the math and decided 14 is at least 8 times heavier than 6. I attached my camera to the monster here in the office and turned it on. I hit the shutter button and it focused nearly instantly. Can’t wait to get it home and mounted to the Wimberley so I can take some photos…I am one happy camper.

FIRST PIC WITH IT!
It's cloudy, rainy and yucky but I put the plate on the lens, put the lens on the Wimberley and put the converter and camera on the lens and set up on the front porch. Within seconds one of our Mockingbirds showed up. I didn't use a flash and the pic isn't anything great but it's SCARY SHARP and was taken from 40 feet! This is with the TC-20E!
I think we will be fast friends!

Seriously, that's a gorgeously sharp picture and it's a delight to hear that someone's happy with their new equipment.
