I've recently received orders for an image at what for me is a larger-than-normal size: 30x20. I'm getting these printed on metallic paper, and am planning on signing prints for some customers.
My concern is packaging for shipping. I did not charge a lot for S&H, so I'm trying to ensure there's a cost-effective yet safe shipping solution. Tubes are much cheaper than a flat box at that size. I've occasionally rolled larger prints and shipped in tubes, but never metallic prints, rarely this big, and never signed. I'm concerned that the finish may not take well to rolling or that ink could potentially smear (especially since I'll probably have to use a gold or white pen).
For those that have shipped similar prints in tubes in the past, am I worrying too much, or do you have additional or alternate suggestions that will ensure the prints arrive safely?
Thanks,
Max

Try to get a hold of a few 24x36 sheets of cardboard (the stiffer the better). (I get mine from the pre made frames i use). Put the prints in plastic from clearbags.com....Then sandwich the prints between two sheets of cardboard and then sandwhich that with two more sheets of cardboard. Use packing tape to completely seal the four sides and tape across the package a few times. By now, it should be a very stiff package. Write or have the postal service stamp do not bend all over the thing!
I send mine USPS and depending on where its going, shipping ends up between 20 and 30 bucks.....I've never had a problem(knock on wood ). Hope this helps.
