I made another fall trip up to Crex Meadows late last week. I wasn't sure how many Sandhill Cranes would still be around but when I stopped at the visitors center they indicated that they still had over 9,000 cranes roosting at Crex. This shot was taken in the morning before the cranes left for their feeding grounds.
This next week might be a good time to visit since there will be a full moon. Weather permitting there might be some nice evening flight shots with the moon in the background.
There are more shots and a more detailed description of conditions on my Blog.
Really nice image! Good poses, great environment, and looks like it's very sharp. Tough to catch a group of anything, ALL in good poses - and a great reflection too.
This is not the C and C forum, but if you are open to suggestions...My only thought might be to frame a little differently, with the cranes in the middle-right side of the frame, leaving more room in front of them.

It would be appreciated if mention was made where locations are near, city and state.I take it MW stands for midwest. That is a lot of area. Bud
Very nice, Phil! I agree with Sandy that I'd like to try some different crops on this one, as there may be a different way to focus attention on the cranes...
