Thought I'd post a shot that shows the "ears"
Shot from the door of John Deer 7720 while chopping corn stalks. This is the first of the shots, I was aproaching it in the tractor and it was getting ready to fly. I cropped this shot by about 60% to show the head. Both shots were with Olympus E5 Sigma 50-500 @ 1000mm eq lens f10 1/2500 ISO 1250

You have a couple of nice owl shots. I'm amazed that it stayed around while you were working.
