I am planning a short trip to to the Smokies the early part of next week. I am asking you locals to give me some info about the water flow and levels in the mid sized and larger creeks up that way. I concentrate on moving water images so the Little River and the Tremont area are places I am looking at. Are the medium sized waterfalls flowing?
I didn't make it to the Smokies, but stream levels about 30 miles away in North Carolina were definitely on the low side last weekend. You'll definitely want to check in and make sure that stream flow is good in the areas you listed.
Also, If you are at all interested in fall color, you probably need to hold off another two weeks in those areas or plan on adding in some trips to higher elevations in the park.
See the official fall color for a couple of shots from Cades Cove this past weekend. I came in from Townsend and the water was unusually low from the Wye on up. The colors weren't there yet anyway but it would have been a stretch given the water. I think I grabbed a quick shot of the low water that I will see if I can post.
