What is the "normal" peak color time for Fall Foliage in the park?

Hi Andy,

We typically have color through the last week of October. Last year, we were done the week before that. We have some color already. I would think that late the week of the 17th would be a safe bet. Jack Graham is running his workshop from Oct 27-30 if you want to join in there. Good luck!

Thanks, Chuck. I was planning to be in Babcock SP on the 13th with a group of others. My "contact" for that is James Moore and he is concerned that the foliage might already be gone by then. A buddy and I have the long weekend (13-16) planned anyway, so we want to have "plan B." We live in lower Michigan and it is looking an awful lot like the U.P. will also be "done" by then. Things are early this year in some places.

I have seen some of your images of the park. They are very nice! Is there a book or any other information on some of the locations? If we end up there, it would be nice not to be fumbling around trying to find shooting locations.

Andy,

Go to MWNP's Ohio locations page to get a good list of spots and a map of the park. I think the weekend of the 13-16 will be great here as long the weather cooperates.

Ian Adams has a new book entitled "A Photographer's Guide to Ohio". It lists lots of places to shoot, including the CVNP. You can find it at Amazon or B&N.

I'm traveling next week, so will follow up after Columbus Day.

Best,
Chuck

Hi Andy,

I'm just back from a week in Ontario so I haven't had a chance to get down into the park. There is a lot of color here with leaves on the ground. There is still a lot of color to come. We expect a good rain today and rain forecast through the weekend. That should help our waterfalls. Windy Saturday, but other than that, should be good shooting here in the CVNP.

This is the weekend to shoot Brandywine Falls, as the color there tends to go early.

Hope you have a great trip. Might see you out there.

Chuck
