Michigan U.P. Road Trip

This past weekend my wife and I took a road trip to the U.P. I'm not quite now why we went but it was something about checking out the Monarchs at Peninsula Point Lighthouse. That was a bust but we did travel over to Escanaba up along the Lake Michigan shore. We then drove over to Whitefish Point and down to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. The highlight of the trip was our visit to Seney National Wildlife Refuge. This is a sunset photo taken along the Marshland Drive.

I have more details and photos from the trip on my Blog . You might want to check it out if you are planning to head into the area on a photography trip this fall since conditions at some photography locations have changed recently.

Beautiful photo. I especially like the cloud formation. It looks like a giant bird. I live in Northern Illinois and am planning a trip to the UP. I will be sure and check out this refuge. The NWR are some of my favorite areas to spend time in.

As much as I like the colors and the clouds and the islands, my eyes are drawn to the duck cruising across the lake (maybe a Grebe). This is an excellent composition.
