At the beginning of each month I look at some of the photos I've taken in previous years during the same month. This month I was reminded of a trip we took last year to Frontenac State Park. We encountered a large number of Monarch Butterflies that were feeding on goldenrod plants. It was a beautiful day on Labor day so we drove back over to the park to see if we could find some Monarchs. They weren't gathered in one spot but in walking through the prairie we found about 30 of them feeding. We also found some Giant Swallowtails feeding on the thistle plants.
