I have found myself in rather harsh light lately trying to shoot flowers. I am wondering what, if anything, folks use in the realm of reflector/diffusers, or home-made diffusers, etc.

And along with that, any hints, tips, and "watch-out-fors" in using said diffusers.

One of the best buys in photographic gear is the Adorama 5 in 1 reflector/diffuser. For about $40 you get a white, silver and gold reflector, a diffuser and a black side. Folds down small, doesn't weigh much, is easy to use and turns any light into soft, diffused light.

Steve, I have a couple of five-in-one diffusers for close-up work and they're great. One word of warning, make sure you don't get too much light if you use a reflector with the diffuser to throw light back onto your subject. It's easy to get too much and get a flashed look.

Steve,

I second Bret's Adorama 5 in 1 reflector/diffusser suggestion. Mine is the 32" model.

I'm pretty sure I'm toting the 32" model too, though I'm too lazy to take it out and measure it.
