I live here in the Southeast I am looking for some ideas of things to shoot in late summer. I mostly shoot nature scenes. The color is a little tired, the streams are all down, most of the wildflowers are gone and I am looking for some ideas of things to shoot. Any ideas?

You're right. This is a tough time to be a nature photographer in the South. Don't discount the wildflowers. I used to think it was over once sping was past but I'm learning that you can still find wildflowers in the summer and even the fall. I'm hoping to catch some deer, bear, and turkey in the Smokies the weekend after next.

Check out William Britten's website for info, including some recent updates on wildflowers

Mark
look around for seed pods, interesting shapes with leaves and branches, great light after a thunderstorm, (if you are getting any of those :), dead leaves showing the veins, wildflowers that are blooming, lots of pollinating insects (bees, butterflies etc--great challenge to work on those), lots of other insects, spiders and early morning spider webs......lots of stuff out there actually. Dew on the grasses in the early am, etc. Happy shooting!

Those are great ideas and give me new subjects to chase. Thanks to both of you.

In this heat I am turning to Waterfalls! There are also a lot of interesting fungi, some of which I have never seen flowering up through the soil and wood.

Farmlands can offer some nice opportunities as well!

Hey Mark,

I was going to suggest going to Roan mountain for the Roan Mountain Goldenrod Bloom Next week but I was up there this weekend and They have mowed the entire side of Round Bald from Carvers Gap up to the top. Oh Well.

There is always alternatives if you keep your mind open to new ideas...

You might want to see what I found on Cloudland Trail here... - http://haroldrossjr.zenfolio.com/p211197396

Or slide over to Unaka Mountain and you will find this right now....- http://haroldrossjr.zenfolio.com/p232337756

Have a great week and get ready for Fall.....I can't wait!!!!
