Funny. I got an email from Cindy today asking the same thing. I was at Grandfather Mtn this last weekend and they were a few days from peak at 5000 feet. Roan High Knob is at 6200 and the balds are around 5800. I guess the next two weekends would be good. The festival is June 18 and 19. Everything is early this year so I think this could be a good weekend. I'm going on the 25th and may be too late for the Rhodies.
I am in Atlanta on Business this week...will try to get up to Roan this weekend and see whats happening and I will let you know what I find out. It may be as late as Tuesday the 14th but I will post an update here after traveling up there.

Thanks Richard,
he mentions that this is near the parking area of Carvers gap and not up on the balds themselves so I'd say the next 2 weeks looks good.
I hiked the Roan Balds Saturday morning. The Rhodies and Flame Azaleas are in full bloom on the balds. They are a couple days away up at the Gardens. I didn't see any Grays Lillies blooming yet. Maybe a couple more weeks for them.
