Close Encounters and One picture
I thought it would be interesting to post a couple of images from bobcat encounters out in the desert behind our place where I did NOT get a good picture. On both of these encounters I was only able to get off one shot before the bobcat would disappear and when I mean disappear it seems like they just vanished. On the top image I was sure I was going to get more pictures after I slowly went around a big prickly pear cactus to line up my next shot and then nothing, it was gone.

On this image I had actually heard the cat meowing and slowly approached the area when I noticed the bobcat peak around a Palo Verde tree checking me out. I slowly moved to get a better angle, looked down to get around another cactus and again, nothing, gone, vanished back into the desert.

Seriously, you nailed the first one. Thats how you portray the elusive :toast:

Agree with Anand, you portrayed the elusive. At least you got the whole face in #1.

Jim , I LOVE the first image, especially. It demonstrates the exact nature of the beast - elusive, peeks of it here and there with exceptional luck, then quickly vanished into thin air.

We have bobcat living in the fields and forest behind our home. We hear them, but have only glimpsed one once. Late at night one showed up in our headlights as we turned into the driveway - it was about 350 feet away just on our property line. Never, never have we seen anything remotely possible to get a photograph. That said I love your images. They depict exactly how elusive these wonderful critters are. Great job and thanks for sharing and making us jealous.

Tough shots to get but what a great experience in just seeing these great, elusive animals. The 1st one looks good. :toast:
