I was looking at the wonderful images on Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) and found this shot of the largest known cliff in our solar system:

Tallest Cliff and Info

It's called Verona Rupes and is located on the planet Uranus' moon Miranda. It was photographed by the passing Voyager 2 robotic spacecraft in 1986.

El Capitan in Yosemite is about 1 km tall (0.6 mi). Verena Rupes is 20 kilometers high (12 miles)! And we always thought El Cap was big!

To see more great images of the wonders of our universe, take a look at the APOD Archive.

Have fun!

I love the APOD stuff. My company does some work with NASA, so I do get to see a lot of amazing shots just walking around the hallways here. It's pretty stunning what comes back from so far away.
