Early Risers
Anyone else an early riser? I think I've finally converted my wife and our travel companions.

From force of habit I'm up by 4 and do a lot of early morning photography. Results like this from Chaco Canyon are starting to convert them from their slovenly 8AM awakenings! :toast:

BTW- I think I've found out exactly why the ancient Anasazi built in this particular spot. Spring sun sneaks through a crack in the nearby mesa to illuminate the ruin long before the surrounding area feels its warmth.

I'm a very early riser too Hank, I am usually awake around 4 am, when I am feeling lazy I sleep in until 5 am. I want to be at my location and on birds just as the sun starts to fall on them.

I'm an early riser, too, Hank, but my husband is grouchy in the mornings. I think it's all those years that he had to get up at 3 AM to go to work.....
I'm trying to convert him, but for photo work, it's usually just me by myself anyway.

I'll leave it up to my wife to report if I'm grouchy or not, Ginny, but I certainly appreciate those few hours by myself to start the day, camera or not! :toast:

Hi Hank

I like to get up early. I like to shoot low light landscapes, so I want to be at my destination about an hour before sunrise. If I get there before first light, I make some night shots and/or listen to Ludwig on the iPod and savor the coffee. I set an hour before sunrise because I've never arrived too early but on occasion I have arrived too late, missing the best light.

My spouse is not a morning person, so she never accompanies me, even though I've encouraged her to - I even got her her own camera. She complains that she had a new DSLR within an hour of mentioning that she might like to have one, but it took her five months to get a new stove.
