This image was taken yesterday driving on Northshore Road in the Lake Mead Recreation area.
From the research I did last night, I'm guessing it's a Desert Sunflower. The descriptions I found say the Desert Sunflower has 10 to 20 rays; it's to be found as early as February in the Sonoran and Mojave deserts of Utah, Nevada, and California.
The clumps of flowers I found were relatively new.
If anyone out there has more definitive information, please share.
