Normally when I'm looking for something to shoot indoors over the weekend, I stop in my local grocery store and try to find something remotely interesting (often I don't...). Today I went to the Perfect Petal in Denver's Highlands district and fell in love. You can buy flowers by the stem and they have many, many varities. I went into the cold room and picked out whatever I wanted. They were a little confused when I said it wasn't a bouquet (the flowers weren't cohesive!), but I got some great blooms to play with! Just thought I'd share for anyone else in the Denver area!

Hey Anne, I'll check them out when I'm in the area for my Macro Boot Camp in October.
I have one standby florist in Lehi, UT where I like Anne. They know me by name, and I know them. I can often just call and ask what they might have and he can tell me if there are any flowers that I will find interesting. I find that I have a few idiosyncrasies when it comes to buying flowers.
1. It might just be a gerbera daisy, but it might be a very interesting color combination so I get it instead of something more exotic.
2. Monte Casino asters might be boring and just filler to florists, but I love shooting it. I find that they never mention it as one of the interesting flowers that they have.
3. The blooms for me need to be as close to perfect as possible. I hate having creases or folds or other blemishes in the petals or leaves.
Costco can have great bouquets for not much money. Especially if you want a good bunch of iris or tulips, Costco can be the place to go. I think the last time I looked at a big bunch of tulips it was only $9 for the bunch.
