...because Tuesday afternoon I should receive my Canon Rebel T2i with 18-55 and 55-200mm lenses! I'm sure this would be a step or many steps backward for many of you, but for me it's a G-I-A-N-T step forward. Onward and upward!
Hi Barbara. Congratulations on your new gear.
You won't be disappointed with your new Rebel. And it looks like you've god a good zoom range covered.
My wife has the T1i. It's a great little camera. I love it.

Congrats Barbara, you may have a learning curve to overcome at first, but with your enthusiasm I'm confident you'll do that with flying colors. Can't wait to see the final results posted on NP.

Congratulations Barbara. The Rebel cameras are a terrific first DSLR and you'll have a blast with it.
Yes, I do have Photoshop Elements, Richard. I've had PSE8 for a few months and just got PSE9 two or three weeks ago.
I will try immediately shooting in raw, but I will have so many other things to learn that if it seems impossible I might have to go back to jpg at first.
Thanks, everyone!

Barbara,
congrats on your new gear! As Rich says, one of the major advantages is the ability to shoot RAW. If you're not totally comfortable, try shooting RAW + JPEG. That way you get jpegs that are easy to deal with, and have raw files down the road, for when you're looking at one of your old shots, thinking "wow, that really has potential, but it needs a little more work." You'll be glad you've got the raw files to go back to (trust me... I wish I had them from my first 9 months with a DSLR).

Congratulations on the new gear Barbara. Be sure to shoot in RAW and JPEG since you will wish you had if you don't. Enjoy.... which I am sure you will.
IMG_0001 with the new camera, literally putting in the battery and card and putting on a lens and walking out the back door, leaving it on Auto, and pointing and shooting. But I thought I'd share this milestone for me with you all. (This is one of our cats, Tiger Puff.)

Seriously, that is wonderful. Happy for you.
I hope you will start immediately shooting in raw.
I also hope you have Photoshop Elements.
