I recently purchased a Trimline system. I need to get weights for it and am looking for suggestions. I saw some artists using old dumbells this past weekend at a show in Fountain Hills. I didn't personally like the look of it. I think sandbags offer a cleaner look. Any other suggestions? I don't even know where to buy this stuff.

Thanks for your time and help.

Hey Michael, most artists use a four or five inch PVC pipe, and fill it with concrete, and add an eye bolt in the top so it can be hung from a strap to the frame work at the corners.

I used a variation similar to the one Mike mentions and it very inexpensive and effective.

I used 2" diameter pvc tubes. I cut the sections exactly to fit across the inside of my Jeep Cherokee behind the driver's seat (not necessary, but a detail to consider). I used the standard end caps to finish them off, and filled them with sand before gluing. I also installed the hanging bolt as Mike describes, but I added my own twist:

I did not much care for the hanging method of securing the tubes to the tent frame, it is a bit awkward and working around stressed bungies makes me nervous. Also, this method tends to have some slack inherent in it, allowing the tent to raise a bit before the tension is taken up by the weight. So instead I purchased a roll of heavy duty velcro and made a pair o fsecuring straps for the tubes. i have a metal plate that fits around the foot of the tent leg and the pvc tube sits directly in a small cutout on the plate, which sits directly on the foot. This makes for a very clean looking and stable installation. Total cost under $50 and about an hour of my time.
