I have just returned from a trip to the Moosehead Lake region in search of Moose. I traveled the Golden Road and lots of back roads
with a guide. I only saw 1 Bull Moose across the a pond. I went
out with Alison Simpson,(email: mark@maineoutfitter.com) who really worked hard to find any Moose
she could. She tried everything she could from Calls, to
shaking bushes and walking with a Canoe Oar over her head.
But unfortunately the Moose were not to be found. I hear June or
July is a much better time to see Moose. Late September is the
Rut and the Moose are on the move a lot.
CC always welcome.

Bernie,
Very nice shot. Sorry that the moose weren't out and about when you were there, but it's a great area to wander about in Maine. My experience is that they are really out in the spring (late April into June) when they come out of the snowy woods after a long winter. You will have to come back.

Ditto: I will be leading some moose photography workshops this spring in new hampshire. It is much easier to see them in the spring. You can also get some cows with calves.
