After much wondering, I finally decided to get the Wimberley WH-200 for the 600 f/4...I'm goingo to make the order this Monday.

Browsing through the Wimberley site, I noticed that they make also a replacement foot for the Canon 600 f/4 IS...anyone uses it? it is really necessary?

Thanks for every answer :wavey:

Hi Juza. I don't have one of these. However, one of the people with us on our Africa trip had one. It look slick and seemed to work very well. The fit and finish was excellent. It is a little lighter than the original and, of course, you don't need to add a tripod plate. All that said, I am not sure if it is really worth the $$$.

The big advantage is the reduced size of the replacement foot, a huge help when packing a 600 in your carry-on luggage. (For carry-on, my lens wears an Optech Hood Hat; the lens hood goes in my checked luggage.)
