Err on D70 (Attention Scott Buckel!)

Lately I have gotten a few 'Err' messages on my D70 when shooting. Does this seem normal? Was I just lucky not to have gotten then until the last while?

When I get the error, the shutter seems to stay open, then pushing the shutter release again relieves the condition.

Any ideas?

Nathan - I think it is a virus! On the last day of a recent trip my D70 started doing the same thing. I need to send it into Nikon to get it fixed. I talked to a local repari guy and he told me it is frequent problme and send it into Nikon for repair. Nikon will turn it around in about 10 days.

Sorry your having the same problem,

Nathan, send it in. I had the same thing happen on my D100 a while back. Unfortunately, I was cleaning the sensor when the mirror decided to flap back down! It cost me seven hundred bucks.

Nathan - I looked at several service charges I have had in the past with Nikon. It looks like the minimum charge is about $275 including return shipping.

I've never had that error, but I did have mine freeze up (I thought it was due to the cold, it was like the shutter opened and would not close back). I sent it to Nikon and it was fixed for FREE... no questions asked, no problem, quick turnaround. Good luck.

Scott...have you had your D70 fixed? How much was it? I tried to send an email, but it bounced.

I am thinking that I may have to have mine repaired, I had problems with it again the other day.
