I'm still pinching myself here but out now in PhotoPlus magazine I got a 4 page spread. It's so awesome and I am so honored to have it. In US stores now at Barnes and Noble and Borders. I encourage those of you who want to get published to start putting your work out there. My best friend pushed me for the longest time to do just that and now I can't thank her enough. They don't know you exist if you don't get out there. Ever since my Pop Photo win, it's just been snowballing and the rewards of the recognition are beyond words, not to mention the extra bucks !!!So get goin. :wavey:

That's huge Cheryl! I have to credit you some with getting me to start putting my work out there... no accomplishments like yours so far but I know they will be coming. Your hard work is paying off left and right and you're an inspiration to the rest of us.

Way to go Cheryl! I'm up here in Toronto and have to see if I can find the mag. What did you do specifically to "get your work out there" that got you noticed?

Thanks everyone so much. It's really been exciting for me.Garry I started by entering some contests, sending promo packs out to magazines with a card I made up that had a composite on it with my photos. I reccomend the book Photographer's market it lists companies open for submissions and guidelines for sending. Also I got 2 jobs because of the Nat Geo online photo album I put together. Hope this helps :wavey:

Congrats!! I know I am "getting there" as I am getting asked for free images from non-profits now all the time! And, yeah, I give them the images as they are local non-profits and my name is getting spread around. Now for the "real" companies

Oh, and I forgot to mention that I volunteer my labor (ie: grunt work) for these same non-profits while I also photo-document what they are doing if for nothing else, to get the practice/skill photographing groups at work in public areas which helps me become a more comfortable photographer (does that make sense?).

Congrats again! I know it takes a whole lot of work and time to become instantly published :jump:
