I want to plan a trip to Lakota Wolf for this fall when the leaves are changing color. Has anyone had any experience there? I was also wondering if anyone knew of anywhere in New England, New York or New Jersey that had places to photograph other predators like Bobcat, Mountain Lion, Etc.
David. If you are a member of the CT Association of Photographers they are having a trip to see a wolf raised in CT. Go on their webside to see that trips that they have planned. There is a wolf preserve in Salem, NY that is alot cheaper than Lakota. I'll email if I get further info. Also there are 4 zoos within a couple hour's drive. Roger Williams in Providence, RI; NY Bronx Zoo; Southwick in MA and Beardsley in Bridgeport, CT. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. Which place is more photogenic Lakota, any of the zoos or the place in Salem? I have been to Roger Williams, Beardsly and the Bronx Zoo and I thought Lakota or another Wolf Preserve would offer better photo oppurtunities.

I have never been to Lakota, but I heard that you have to shoot thru the fence. The Wolf conservation center in South Salem NY has "windows" in the fence that they open up so you can get your lens thru. I have gotten some awesome photographs there, iclusing some that appeared in the calendar (and my husband Tom had a cover one image year). CAP is having a field trip with a wolfe that you can get very close to and I would highly recommend that trip!
