A few months back, I posted asking for comments re: our AK Cruise. Recognizing that a "family vacation" / combined with a cruise (we were on a moving platform 99% of the time)would present challenges to serious photography. But that ship (pun intended) had already sailed.
We were in AK, cruising from Vancouver, BC to Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, Glacier Bay and College Fjord during the last week in May. We were blessed with some unusually warm and sunny weather and I struggled home under the sheer weight of nearly 4,000 digital images (of course, the "keeper ratio" is much lower :-) ).
In any event, thanks to those of you who commented and gave suggestions and advice. I felt that under the circumstances, the trip was very successful, photographically. My next AK trip (someday) will probably be land-based and will no doubt be more about photography. By way of warning, I'll be back!
You have one of the most beautiful, and photogenic states on earth, albeit, you have to choose your days.
If anyone is interested, my site is www.lightcentricphotography.com and the "New Additions" gallery has some of the highlights.
Thanks for your kind words about Alaska.I visited your site; I'm afraid it loads painfully slowly on my laughably slow DSL connection. But from what I saw, your shots are a cut above the usual If-This-Is-Thursday-It-Must-Be-Skagway kind of photos. I'm pleased you got one of the five sunny days a year on the White Pass RR.

I don't know how soon I'll be back, but it won't be soon enough!
