I am going to the Dupont State Forest this weekend with a couple friends from out of town. I have never been there and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for "don't miss" locations to photograph. e.g. waterfalls, landscape, sunrise/set, etc.

Thanks in advance!

Wow, you live in Asheville and haven't been to Dupont?? You're lucky to be that close to such as great place. I've only been there twice, once in the fall and once in the winter. The waterfalls are the stars of the park. Check out http://www.dupontforest.com/attractions.asp for some highlights. Hooker, Tripple, Bridal Veil and High falls are great. Hooker is the easiest to get to, the smallest, but perhaps the most photogenic. I've not been there but I understand Stone Mtn is good for sunset or sunrise. I'm pretty sure all the wildflowers are gone by now.

Enjoy your trip. You'll be back.
