White Oak Sinks
My wife and I spent Friday hiking White Oak Sinks in Great Smoky Mtn National Park. We had never been to the sinks before and were amazed by the variety and shear number of wildflowers in a small area. The whole area was carpeted with Phlox with path's winding around throughout. Mixed in were several varieties of Trillium, Columbine, Shooting Stars, Little Brown Jugs (the plant variety), Wild Ginger, Bishops Caps, Flame Azaleas, and Yellow Lady Slippers (see my post under Flora).

The sun was high on a cloudless day which made it difficult to take a photo that captured the beauty of this area. I'd love to go back on a cloudy day, but will have to wait until next year.

Canon 7D, Tamron 17-50 @ 17mm, f/18, 1/6 sec.

Hi Richard. I think you did a nice job here given the harsh light.

BTW the Sink has good light until 8:30 or so if you hike in early ;-)

Really Pretty and I like the light patterns.

Despite the tough light, this is very pleasant to look into. :toast:
