Hello, just a quick question....I notice that many images in the galleries have a signature of the author on them. How is this done?

Hi Bruce,

If you mean the 'real' handwriting signature - then either signing with a graphics tablet (or mouse if you're clever). You can also scan a paper signature in and put it on a layer.

The easiest way would be to type it in with a 'script' type font.

You can sign your signature on some white paper and then scan it on a flatbed scanner. Bring it into photoshop, select the signature using the magic wand selection tool with Contiguous unchecked.
In CS2, Go to Edit>Define Brush Presets and name the new brush. Now you can use your signature as a brush, which means it's scalable and you can change the color too.

If you don't have a flatbed scanner take a picture of it. I signed my name with a sharpie on a sheet of typing paper and took a quick shot.

Everyone who tried to help, I searched the Web and found a real easy way to add a copyright symbol along with my signature. Just open in Photoshop, click on T tool, horizontal text, type Ctrl/Alt at the same time and type the letter C. Hold Alt key and type 0169 with the number keys on the right of the keyboard. That will give you the copyright symbol, the just choose a font and type your name.

I tried this.... but it just looks like it is putting a stamp on the photo and is not letting me scale or move it. I do have the brush set up with the symbol and my name.... but whenever I want to use it all I get is a + sign and its hit or miss if you stamp it in the right spot.

What am I doing wrong?

I have been signing via a signature on acetate, scanned and dropped onto print in PS but.... I don't feel right about it. Ok, it is my signature but no different than if I had had a rubber stamp made of it. No two signatures are the same, even your own, I now feel signing the print with a spirit pen is more.....'honest'?
