Plateau Pic #4
One final image from the northern plateau near the Kentucky line. This is another almost unbelievable cliff shape, and what the photograph doesn't capture well is that the cliff is leaning out toward you, more so as it gains elevation.

Steve-

I really like the lines in this shot. Have enjoyed all of your shots from this location. Now I really need to go there. Is it hard or long hike to? My husbands video equipment is a bit heavier than my camera gear and can somethimes limit our hikes...

Thanks for sharing these shots.

Robin,

I guess the answer is both yes and no....

The area is a Nature Conservancy tract called Pogue Creek and is not normally open to the public as there are no trails and you have to have permission to cross private property for access. I do, and would be glad to guide you and your husband the first time out.

The hike itself to this particular stretch is not long, maybe 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 miles at the most, but there is no trail and it can be steep and difficult in places although manageable. I use a 4x5 and my pack is usually 25 pounds or so. In the mile that contains the photographically interesting things, you could easily spend a week.

There are other areas that also have tremendous potential and I haven't explored them all.

Cheers, Steve
