My wife and I have decided to try the art show scene to show and sell my work. I was accepted to participate in a juried art show in June, so my question is.... Where do you guys and gals get your pre-cut matting and backing boards, and also your clear bags to put them in at? Quality comes first and then of course price. Thank you very much in advance for any suggestions you could give us.

Bob, I started the art show scene last year, and I also like Documounts.

For the bags, I've used Clearbags.com for years. They have a huge variety of bags, with/without sealing flaps. They are great for prints, cards, etc. They also have a stock of mats but haven't ordered from them.

Click on http://www.clearbags.com/accessories/slick-writers
Then click on the CRYSTAL CLEAR BAGS tab at the upper left

Hope this helps!

I generally buy my mat board and backing locally but there is no local source of clear bags the size I need so I turned to eBay. Search for "crystal clear bags size you need" in the craft supplies category. I try to make my matted sizes come out to standard frame sizes as much as possible. Don't forget that you will need bags for the items you sell. Save some of those plastic bags from the supermarket for that.

You might want to take a look at framingsupplies. com. I've had excellent service at very good prices from them.

Dick Blick also sells a set that includes the bag, foam core backing, and white mat in several sizes.

Hi Bob,

I use the Mat cutter http://www.matcutter.com/index.php for mats -- pre-cut in 10n packs or custom cut 25 minimum -- and backing.

Clear bags for bags -- http://www.matcutter.com/index.php

Have fun,

Frank

I use danielsmith.com for 'presentation kits' that include sets of 10 mats, backer boards, and clear bags. They're available in most standard sizes, are good quality and seem reasonably priced. Good customer service, too. Sally Mitchell
