Mystic Morning
Got out early friday before work to catch mist coming off a nearby pond. Other than the fact the sunrise was marginal in color I was pleased with the mood and mystery of this shot, it was just what I was after. Thanks for looking!

Wayne, I really like this!!! I love the mystic fog and the contrast provide by the colors of the morning sky. Very nice, and I can't think of anything I'd change. Thanks for posting...

Wayne, this is outstanding! Well thought out composition. I really like that you didn't go for the mid-horizon mirror image. The mood is much better this way. Great detail above the water. Thanks for posting.

Nicely done Wayne! The softness of the fog/mist really compliments the soft morning colors. I really like the mood you've captured here. Thanks for sharing!

Wayne:

Have you noticed that the quality of your photos posted here has gone up in the past week or so? Way up. (so did Bill's last month, and Tim B., but he has always led the pack) I'm not saying it was because of what you learned at a workshop, but I have a feeling it does have something to do with the fact that you attended a workshop. Certainly being exposed to new and different info is great, but I think being around other like-minded photographers does tend to get the creative juices flowing, and the end result is that you naturally will go out and produce more, and also produce better work - AND your confidence level goes up, and you can rework and show older images that really sing. Even after being a pro for 31 years, and teaching photo workshops since 1981, I still try to go to at least one major workshop every year as a student - besides the creative juices part, I always pick up new info that will stick with me for a good long while (especially with digital, which changes literally every day). Workshops are always money well spent. I highly recommend any serious photographer attend at least one workshop every year, and going to two or three is even better.

This is not a critique forum (there are tons of those elsewhere on this site), and I will seldom comment on the merits of individual photos, but your body of work is splendid, and I hope you keep up the great work!

Thanks everyone! I appreciate the comments. This image is certainly one of my personal favorites because it conveys the "mood" I set out to capture. Nice when that happens!

After missing in action for almost 4 months it feels real good to get back into nature and photography. Tim E is right (at least for me) that the workshop really helped me to get the creative juices going again and his B/W workshop in particular helped me understand the conditions that make for a good B/W subject.

My personal goal for this year is to continue to move out of the "cookie cutter" photography that most new photographers go through (myself included) and develop a better eye and maybe start to define my own style.

Without a doubt, NPN and the critiques that I have received on my posts has played a huge role in helping me improve my photography. Thanks to all for your comments!

BTW Tim E, I'll be back! Thanks :wavey:
