Hey folks,

FYI. The NOC (Nantahala Outdoor Center) is opening up a brand new retail center in downtown Gatlinburg - right on the main strip at the very edge of the Smoky Mountains National Park (where the old Open Hearth used to be). It's huge, 19,000 square feet, with a climbing wall, outdoor clothing and equipment, etc. It might be the only excuse for ever going into Galtlinburg!

Anyways, this coming weekend is the big Grand Opening so you might want to check it out. I'll be there on Sunday afternoon (yeah, that's Easter Sunday) from 12 noon to 6 p.m. meeting people and signing books. I'll also be giving a presentation at 3 p.m. on Photographing the Smokies so come by if you get the chance.

Thanks for the FYI, Richard. As for going into Gatlinburg, if I'm on the Townsend side after car camping and hiking with no shower and woodsy clothes, sometimes I like to grab a bite at Applebee's. It is my only excuse for going into Gat!

Sounds like a great addition for Gatlinburg...I'll have to stop by next time I go through there.

How was the weekend in Charleston? I hope you all got some great shots!

I'll have to check it out when were up next month. Usually when were staying in Townsend, one day either lunch or dinner we will slip into that end of Gatlinburg and go to Texas Roadhouse. Oh, and you have to go through to get to Roaring Fork or at least thats the only way I know to get there.
