Folks,
I'll be posting 3 ice abstracts and a couple of other shots done Saturday and Sunday in gum swamp in Cades Cove. Since the loop road is closed until May 21st (latest), I figured I'd try to get something out of the Cove before it was gone for the winter.
The mechanics of the abstracts are unusual since all I had with me was a 8x10 camera, intending to shoot B&W. But what I needed was my 4x5 and the 400mm tele lens, so I shot two 8x10 Fuji Velvia chromes with a 19" (480mm)Goerz Red Dot Artar and proceeded to "crop" roughly 4x5 to 5x7 sized compositions out of them. Any number of pictures could be had...
Oh, and the abstract forms were caused by something breaking up the ice (I suspect the "Cades Cove dog", aka deer) and then refreezing.
Steve, I really like it a lot. I particularly like the different shapes that you refer to as created by the "Cades Cove dog". Great creative way to get the shot as well. Very nice!

So here's the first.
