Hi!
I'm hoping to get to Sanibel again this year for bird mating season, and to see my parents.
What is the best bet for timing?
Any leads on inexpensive places to stay not too far away?
Anyone have a room to rent?
Anyone want to share a week somewhere close?
Can't answer your questions but sure am jealous! Assuming you are going to Ding Darling. Since you seem to have been there before, I hope you are aware that you can go thru the gates BEFORE opening time to catch the right light! Just leave your dollar in the box and slip around the side opening in the gate! I have my images from a few years ago from there on my website in my Nature section I would imagine. When walking in, be sure and walk softly and check out the ditches beside the road for unexpected surprises and closeups! I took a camera on a tripod and a camera for handheld. When you are in position and the birds come flying in right above you, you will have fits if the only camera you have has a long lens and is attached to your tripod! That handheld shorter lens will get you those fly over shots! Have fun and I wish I was there again!!!
Oh yeah, be sure to eat at the Mucky Duck and tell Victor Mayeron I said "HELLO!!"
Troup, thanks for the info. You're right that I missed a lot of good shots 3 yrs ago when I had a single camera. I'll be sure to have a second body this time.
I lived at Mucky Duck, and they were kind enough to allow me to plug my battery chargers in while I ate.
