One-legged headless Heron
They are funny! It was about 5F and we had had lots of snow and this Heron clearly wasn't feeling like waking up anytime soon! His head is buried in his feathers, goodness where his leg is!

I didn't wake him!

Sad for the birds to have to suffer the cold....but I was thinking it would make a good Christmas card, this image on the front and then another inside with the wings open and the head up, taking off and the words Merry Christmas on the wings! Just kidding!

Well... This is an interesting twist on the usual bird on a stick shot

I see the tip of his beak poking backwards through the upper back feathers, and if y'look carefully between the site where his left wing laps slightly over his right wing, squint, and hold your mouth just right.... you'll see his forehead with one eye...looking at you! As for his other leg... y'sure he's got one? Otherwise, GOK.

Did you get some of those cranes slipping on the ice in Socorro? Same sort of deal.
